Which Korean Skin Treatments Are Suitable Before a Special Event?

Start with your timeline, not the treatment
Weddings, graduations, photoshoots and big birthdays are among the most common reasons people book skin treatments in Korea. The key to good pre-event planning is to work backwards from the date. A treatment that gives lovely results after two weeks can still leave you swollen or red if you have it three days before your event.
Below is a general guide to how far ahead different types of Korean skin treatments are often scheduled. Recovery varies between people, and a doctor will tailor advice to your skin and the settings used.
Four or more weeks before: treatments that need time
These treatments either develop gradually or can involve more noticeable downtime, so they suit early planning:
- Collagen stimulators. Juvelook and Sculptra work over weeks to months and are usually given as a series. They are generally not last-minute treatments.
- Fractional and RF microneedling. Potenza or fractional lasers for texture and scars can involve redness and flaking for several days, and results build over weeks.
- Lifting devices. Ultherapy Prime, Sofwave, Thermage FLX, Titanium or similar treatments often show gradual change. Treating several weeks before an event gives time for both settling and results.
- Thread lifting. Threads can cause swelling, bruising and tenderness, and the face needs time to settle.
- A first-time filler. If you have never had filler, giving yourself plenty of time allows for swelling to resolve and for any adjustment if needed.
Two to three weeks before: injectables and boosters
- Botox. Wrinkle and jaw Botox typically reach their full effect at around two weeks, so this is a common window. Jaw slimming takes longer to show visible contour change.
- Lip and facial filler. Swelling and bruising usually settle within one to two weeks, so two weeks is a sensible minimum before photos.
- Skin boosters. Rejuran, Exosome and Water Glow can leave bumps, marks or small bruises for a few days. Treating a couple of weeks before an event gives a buffer.
One week or less: gentle, low-downtime options
Closer to the date, many doctors prefer treatments that are gentle and unlikely to cause visible reactions:
- Aquapeel. A hydrating cleansing treatment that typically leaves skin feeling fresh with little or no downtime.
- LDM. An ultrasound-based skin care treatment that many people use for soothing and hydration.
- Laser toning. Low-energy pico toning usually causes only brief redness for most people, although a first-ever session is best done a little earlier in case your skin is reactive.
- InMode FX or similar light lifting. Some people choose these closer to events. Ask the doctor about expected redness for your skin.
The day or two before an event is usually best kept for rest, hydration and your normal skincare rather than any new treatment.
Tips for event planning
- Do not try something new last minute. A treatment you have had before is more predictable than one you are trying for the first time.
- Avoid stacking downtime. Doing several treatments in the final week increases the chance of visible reactions.
- Share the date with your doctor. Tell the clinic exactly when the event is so they can plan settings and order.
- Protect from the sun. Sunscreen helps maintain results, especially after pigment treatments.
- Consider bruising risk. If you bruise easily, give injectables extra time.

Frequently asked questions
What can I do the week before my wedding?
Gentle options such as Aquapeel or LDM are commonly chosen. Avoid new injectables or strong lasers at this stage unless your doctor recommends them.
Is Botox two weeks before an event enough?
For many people, two weeks allows the effect to develop fully. If you have never had Botox, consider a little longer in case of adjustment.
Can I have filler a few days before photos?
It is usually not recommended, because swelling and bruising may still be visible. Two weeks is a safer minimum.
Will results be guaranteed by my event date?
No treatment can guarantee results by a date. Results vary, which is why early planning with a doctor helps.
