Choosing between Busan and Seoul

Seoul, and districts such as Gangnam in particular, are widely known for skin and aesthetic clinics. Busan, Korea's second-largest city, also has a large number of clinics, especially in central districts such as Seomyeon. For international visitors, the question is often less about which city is "better" and more about which one fits your trip, your goals and your budget.

This guide compares the two in general terms. It does not list prices for clinics in Seoul or elsewhere, because prices change and vary between individual clinics. Instead, it explains what tends to drive differences, so you can compare quotes fairly wherever you go.

Treatment options

In both cities, you will find a broad range of non-surgical treatments, including:

  • Botox and contouring. Wrinkle, jaw and body toxin treatments.
  • Skin boosters. Hydration and polynucleotide boosters, and collagen-stimulating injectables.
  • Laser and toning. For pigmentation, texture and pores.
  • Lifting devices. Focused ultrasound, radiofrequency and other energy-based devices.
  • Fillers and threads. For volume and contour.

Seoul has a larger number of clinics overall, so you may find a wider range of specific devices and brands. Busan clinics often cover the most commonly requested treatments. Whichever city you choose, check that the clinic actually offers the specific device or product you want, and that a doctor confirms it suits you.

What drives cost differences in general

Prices vary between cities, districts and individual clinics. Common factors include:

  • Rent and running costs. High-rent districts can mean higher overheads, which may be reflected in pricing.
  • Demand and competition. Areas with many clinics may see more promotions; areas with high tourist demand may price differently.
  • Device and product choice. Genuine branded devices, tips and imported products generally cost more than alternatives.
  • Who performs treatment. Physician-led care and experienced injectors may be reflected in price.
  • Price display. Whether VAT (10%) is included, and whether a price is first-visit only or a limited event.

Because of these factors, comparing a headline price in one city with a headline price in another is rarely like for like. Ask each clinic for the product, amount (units, cc or shots), VAT status and conditions.

Example prices in Busan

For reference, here are some listed first-visit prices at Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon, in Korean won, VAT excluded (10% VAT is added at payment), checked October 2026:

  • Wrinkle Botox, Korean toxin, 1 area. 3,000 KRW.
  • Jaw Botox, 50 units. 9,900 KRW.
  • Water Glow, 2cc. 39,000 KRW.
  • Rejuran, 2cc. 139,000 KRW.
  • Shurink Universe, 300 shots. 55,000 KRW.
  • Ultherapy Prime, 300 shots. 990,000 KRW.

Thermage FLX, fillers, threads, Juvelook and Sculptra are quoted after an in-person consultation. The full list is on our price list.

Convenience and travel

For many visitors, convenience matters as much as price:

  • Where you are staying. If Busan is already on your itinerary, booking locally saves travel time.
  • Combining with a holiday. Busan offers beaches and a relaxed pace, which some people prefer for recovering from treatments with mild downtime.
  • Language support. Check that the clinic can consult in your language. Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon offers consultations in English, Japanese and Korean.
  • Access. Seomyeon is a central transport hub, with Metro Lines 1 and 2 meeting at Seomyeon Station.
  • Follow-up. Consider how you would contact the clinic if you have questions after treatment.

Time is also part of the cost. Travelling between cities for a single appointment adds transport and accommodation, and it can make follow-up harder if you have questions after treatment. If you are already in Busan, a local clinic may simply be the more practical choice.

Safety comes first in either city

Whichever city you choose, the same safety principles apply. Choose a clinic where a doctor assesses you, confirms genuine products and explains common side effects. Be cautious of prices that seem unclear about what is included. Results vary and suitability is decided by a doctor. Read more on our dermatology clinic in Busan page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Busan cheaper than Seoul for skin treatments?

It depends on the clinic, treatment and conditions. Compare the product, amount, VAT status and who performs the treatment rather than city averages.

Can I get the same treatments in Busan?

Many common treatments are available in Busan. Check with each clinic which specific devices and products it offers.

Do I need to speak Korean in Busan?

Not at clinics with language support. Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon consults in English, Japanese and Korean.
