Can Potenza Improve Skin Texture? Results, Recovery and Treatment Planning

What "skin texture" covers
When people talk about skin texture, they usually mean how smooth the surface looks and feels. Rough texture can come from several sources: enlarged or stretched pores, shallow acne scars, small bumps from clogging, fine crepiness from sun damage, and the uneven surface left after years of breakouts. Potenza, a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device, is one of the treatments Korean clinics commonly use for these concerns. Whether it is the right choice depends on what is causing your texture.
For example, bumpy texture from clogged pores may respond better to cleansing and acne care first, while dullness from dehydration may improve with hydrating boosters. Potenza is generally considered when the texture problem lies deeper, in the structure of the skin itself.
How Potenza may improve texture
Potenza inserts fine needles into the skin and releases RF energy at their tips. This creates two effects at once:
- Micro-channels. The needles create tiny controlled injuries, which trigger the skin's natural wound-healing response.
- Deeper heat. RF energy heats the dermis, encouraging collagen and elastin remodelling over the following weeks and months.
- Adjustable depth. The doctor can treat different areas at different depths, for example deeper on the cheeks and shallower near the eyes.
- Tip selection. Different tips are designed for different goals, such as scars, pores or sensitive skin.
Over a series of sessions, these changes may make skin look smoother, pores less noticeable, and shallow scars softer. You can read more on our Potenza page.
What results can look like
It helps to set realistic expectations. Results vary from person to person, and nothing is guaranteed, but people commonly describe:
- Early glow. Some people notice their skin looks fresher once the initial redness settles, partly due to mild swelling and surface renewal.
- Gradual smoothing. Texture changes from collagen remodelling develop slowly, typically over weeks to months.
- Cumulative improvement. Most people need a series of sessions for a visible difference in scars or pores.
- Limits. Deep ice pick scars, significant volume loss, and severe tethered scars often need additional methods.
Recovery after Potenza
Recovery is usually short, but you should plan for it:
- Day of treatment. Redness, warmth and mild swelling are expected. Tiny pinpoint marks or slight bleeding may appear.
- Next few days. Redness usually fades over a few days. Skin may feel dry or slightly rough.
- Makeup and skincare. Gentle cleansing and moisturiser are recommended. Many people restart light makeup after about a day, but follow the advice you are given.
- Actives. Retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubs are usually paused for a short period. Ask the doctor when to restart.
- Sun protection. Use sunscreen daily, as treated skin may darken more easily.
Less common side effects include temporary darkening, breakouts, prolonged redness and, rarely, infection or scarring. Tell the doctor about cold sores, keloid tendency, implanted electronic devices, pregnancy, or recent isotretinoin use.
Treatment planning and price
A texture plan at Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon starts with an examination of what is causing the roughness. The doctor may suggest Potenza alone or combined with other treatments. Prices are first-visit, KRW, VAT excluded (10% VAT added at payment), checked October 2026:
- Potenza full face, KRW 99,000. Tip not included and charged separately.
- U-Pulse Fraxel, KRW 25,000. A fractional laser that may be combined for surface texture.
- Water Glow 2cc, KRW 39,000. A hydrating skin booster for smoother-looking skin.

First-visit prices apply once per new patient per item. See the full price list. Payment is made at the clinic on the day, after the consultation confirms the plan. If you are visiting Busan, you can have a session during your stay and discuss what to continue afterwards. For a broader look at texture options, see our skin rejuvenation page.
Frequently asked questions
How many Potenza sessions improve texture?
It varies. Mild texture concerns may need fewer sessions, while acne scars usually need a series spaced several weeks apart. The doctor will estimate at consultation.
Can Potenza be done on sensitive skin?
Some tips and settings are designed for more sensitive skin, but the doctor must assess your skin first. Very irritated or inflamed skin may need to settle.
Is Potenza suitable for darker skin?
RF microneedling is often considered for skin that tends to darken, because much of the energy is delivered below the surface. Some risk of pigment change remains, so settings are chosen carefully.
How long do results last?
Collagen remodelling can be long-lasting, but ageing, sun and acne continue to affect skin. Occasional maintenance may be suggested.
