Haeundae to Seomyeon: why make the trip

Haeundae Beach is where many visitors stay in Busan, with its hotels, sea views and lively nightlife. Seomyeon, in the centre of the city, is Busan's main shopping and clinic district. Many beach-side visitors make the trip to Seomyeon for skin treatments because it offers a wide choice of clinics in a compact area, along with shopping and food to fill the rest of the day.

This guide explains the main ways to travel from Haeundae to Seomyeon, how long to allow, and how to plan treatment around a beach holiday.

Ways to get from Haeundae to Seomyeon

  • Busan Metro Line 2. Haeundae Station and Seomyeon Station are both on Line 2, so you can ride directly without changing. This is usually the simplest and most predictable option. Allow a reasonable amount of time, as the journey covers a good part of the city.
  • Taxi. A taxi can be convenient, especially in a group or if you are carrying shopping. Journey time depends on traffic, which can be heavy at busy times.
  • Bus. Several bus routes connect the areas. They can be useful, but the subway is easier if you are unfamiliar with Busan.

Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon is at Ion City Building 15F (Room 1501), 74 Seomyeon-ro, Busanjin-gu, a short walk from Seomyeon Station. Seomyeon Station is a transfer station for Lines 1 and 2 and has many exits, so check your map app for the best exit before you arrive.

Planning skin treatment around a beach holiday

Sun, sea and heat are part of a Haeundae stay, and they are also important factors after many skin treatments. Plan with these points in mind:

  • Protect your skin after lasers and peels. Treated skin can be more sensitive to the sun. Sunscreen, a hat and shade are important, and the doctor may advise avoiding long beach days for a short period.
  • Avoid treating sunburnt skin. If you have burnt or very tanned skin, the doctor may adjust or postpone some treatments, especially lasers.
  • Swimming and saunas. After injections, microneedling or lasers, it is common to avoid swimming pools, the sea, saunas and spas for a period advised by the doctor.
  • Schedule treatment strategically. Some visitors enjoy the beach at the start of their stay and book treatment towards the end, while leaving enough time to recover before flying. Others treat early. Discuss your itinerary with the doctor.
  • Laser hair removal. Tanned skin can affect laser hair removal. Mention recent sun exposure when you book.

If you plan a course of laser hair removal, remember that sessions are spaced weeks apart, so a single holiday usually covers one session. The doctor can advise on what to expect from one session and how to continue at home if needed.

Making a day of it

Seomyeon is ideal for combining treatment with a day out. Before treatment, you might shop or have lunch; afterwards, depending on what you had done, you can browse the underground arcade or relax at a cafe. If you had a laser or injections, it is wise to skip makeup for the period advised, avoid alcohol and saunas, and head back to Haeundae for a quiet evening rather than a beach party.
