Why visitors compare filler brands

When you look into dermal fillers in Korea, you will see both well-known international brands, such as Restylane, and a wide range of fillers developed and made in Korea. Visitors often ask whether an imported brand is "better" or whether Korean fillers are just a lower-cost alternative. The honest answer is more nuanced: fillers differ in their properties, and the right one depends on the area being treated, your skin and the result you want.

This guide explains the main differences in general terms. It does not rank brands, and it does not quote prices for specific products or other clinics.

What most fillers have in common

Restylane and many Korean dermal fillers are based on hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and holds water. In filler form, hyaluronic acid is "cross-linked" to make it a gel that lasts longer in the tissue than natural hyaluronic acid would. Because of this shared base, hyaluronic acid fillers have some useful features in common:

  • Immediate volume. The change is visible straight away, although swelling settles over days.
  • Temporary results. The body gradually breaks down the gel over time.
  • Usually reversible. Hyaluronic acid fillers can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed.
  • Similar general risks. Swelling, bruising, lumps and, less commonly, vascular complications are possible with any brand.

How fillers differ in composition

Although the base ingredient is similar, manufacturers use different technologies, and these differences affect how a filler behaves:

  • Cross-linking method. The way hyaluronic acid is cross-linked affects how firm the gel is and how long it may last.
  • Firmness and lift. Firmer gels tend to be used where structure is needed, such as the chin or nose bridge. Softer gels are often chosen for lips or delicate areas such as under the eyes.
  • Spread and flexibility. Some gels integrate smoothly into moving areas like the lips, while others hold their shape more strongly.
  • Particle size and consistency. These influence how the filler feels under the skin and how it is injected.
  • Added lidocaine. Many fillers, both imported and Korean, include a local anaesthetic to improve comfort.

Restylane, for example, is a long-established brand family with several products designed for different areas. Korean manufacturers also produce product lines for different purposes. Within each brand, the specific product chosen matters as much as the brand name.

Why prices differ

We do not quote prices for specific brands or other clinics, but price differences between fillers in Korea generally reflect:

  • Import and distribution costs. Imported products typically carry additional costs compared with locally made ones.
  • Brand recognition and research history. Long-established international brands may be priced at a premium.
  • Product type. Specialised gels for particular areas can be priced differently within the same brand.
  • Amount of product needed. The number of syringes used often affects total cost more than the brand.
  • Doctor experience and safety preparation. Physician-led care and readiness to manage complications are part of what you pay for.

What really drives results

A filler's brand is only one part of the outcome. In practice, results depend heavily on:

  • Choosing the right gel for the area. A firm product in the lips, or a soft product in the chin, may not give the intended look.
  • Injection technique and placement. Depth, amount and distribution shape the final result.
  • Your anatomy and skin. The same product can behave differently in different people.
  • Aftercare and follow-up. Following advice and reviewing results helps catch any issues early.

Suitability and results vary, and the doctor decides at consultation. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a bleeding disorder or take blood-thinning medication, consult a doctor before treatment. Severe pain or skin colour changes after filler need urgent medical attention.

Fillers at Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon

At Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon, fillers are quoted after an in-person consultation, because the amount of product varies. If you have a preference for a particular brand such as Restylane, ask during your consultation which options are available. You will know the cost before treatment, and payment is made on the day after the consultation confirms the plan. Read more on our dermal filler page and see listed treatments on the price list.

Frequently asked questions

Are Korean fillers safe?

Korean fillers are approved and widely used in Korea. Safety depends greatly on the doctor's technique and on choosing the right product for the area, whichever brand is used.

Does Restylane last longer than Korean fillers?

Duration depends on the specific product, the area treated and the individual, so it is hard to compare brands in general. Your doctor can explain what to expect for a particular product.

Can I ask which filler is being used?

Yes. It is reasonable to ask the product name and to see the packaging before treatment.
