Temple Filler Treatments in Korea: Restoring Facial Volume

Why temples lose volume

The temples are the slightly concave areas at the sides of the forehead, between the outer brow and the hairline. They are easy to overlook, but they play a large role in the overall shape of the upper face. When the temples become hollow, the face can look narrower at the top, the brow bone can appear more prominent and the outer brows may seem to droop.

Temple hollowing commonly appears with age as fat and soft tissue gradually reduce. It can also be seen in people who are very slim, those who exercise intensely or those who have lost weight. Some people simply have naturally hollow temples. Temple filler is a non-surgical way to restore some of this lost volume.

What temple filler aims to achieve

  • A smoother upper-face outline. Filling the hollow can create a gentle, continuous curve from the forehead to the cheek.
  • A softer, less tired look. Hollow temples can make the face look gaunt. Restoring volume can look more rested.
  • Brow support. In some people, adding volume in the temple area can subtly support the outer brow.
  • Balance with the lower face. In Korean aesthetics, a fuller upper face combined with a tapering jawline is often seen as balanced. Temple volume can complement V-line treatments.

Products and techniques in general terms

Different approaches are used for the temples, and your doctor will explain which suits you:

  • Hyaluronic acid filler. Adds volume directly and can usually be dissolved if needed.
  • Collagen-stimulating injectables. Products such as Sculptra or Juvelook work more gradually by encouraging the skin's own response over time. They are generally planned over more than one session. See our Sculptra page and Juvelook page.
  • Depth of placement. Filler may be placed at different depths depending on anatomy and the doctor's technique.
  • Needle or cannula. Doctors choose instruments based on the area and their experience. You can ask which will be used and why.

The amount of product varies widely, because temples range from slightly hollow to deeply sunken. This is decided by a doctor after examining you.

Safety in the temple area

The temples contain important blood vessels and lie close to the vessels around the eye. Filler here should be performed by a physician who understands the anatomy well.

  • Common effects. Swelling, bruising, tenderness and a feeling of pressure, especially when chewing, can occur for a few days.
  • Headache or soreness. Some people notice mild aching in the area after treatment, which usually settles.
  • Visible or palpable product. Lumps or uneven contour can sometimes occur and should be reviewed by a doctor.
  • Vascular complications. Rarely, filler can enter or compress a blood vessel. Severe pain, skin colour changes or any change in vision after treatment requires immediate medical attention.

Tell your doctor about any earlier fillers, facial surgery or medical conditions. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take blood-thinning medication, consult a doctor before treatment. Suitability and results vary, and the doctor decides at consultation.

Temple treatment at Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon

At Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon, temple filler, Sculptra and Juvelook are quoted after an in-person consultation, because the amount of product varies. You will know the cost before treatment, and payment is made on the day after the consultation confirms the plan. Our listed treatments, with first-visit prices in KRW (VAT excluded, 10% VAT added at payment, checked October 2026), are shown on the price list.

If the doctor feels skin firmness is also part of the picture, energy-based lifting may be discussed separately. Your doctor can explain whether a lifting device would add anything to a volume plan, or whether filler alone is enough.

Planning temple filler during a visit

  • Allow a few days. Swelling and bruising can take time to settle, so avoid booking the day before an important event.
  • Bring reference photos. Photos of your face from a few years ago can help the doctor understand what has changed.
  • Tell the doctor about chewing habits. Temple tenderness can be noticeable when chewing in the first days.
  • Ask about follow-up. Collagen-stimulating products in particular may need more than one visit.

Frequently asked questions

Will temple filler look obvious?

When planned conservatively and placed carefully, temple filler usually aims for a subtle, natural change. Overfilling can look unnatural, which is why doctors tend to build gradually.

Is filler or Sculptra better for temples?

They work differently. Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume directly, while collagen-stimulating products change things gradually. Your doctor will recommend based on your anatomy and timeline.

How long does temple filler last?

Results are temporary and vary with the product and the person. Your doctor can give you a realistic estimate.
