Choosing between Busan and Gangnam for K-beauty treatments

Gangnam in Seoul is often described as the centre of Korea's aesthetic industry, and it is where many international visitors first look for K-beauty treatments. Busan, on the south-east coast, offers a different kind of trip: beaches, seafood, mountains and a more relaxed pace, along with its own established skin clinics. If you are deciding where to have treatments, or whether to split your trip, this guide covers the travel and budget points worth considering.

Travel considerations

Where you have treatment should fit the shape of your trip. A few points to weigh up:

  • Arrival point. Many long-haul flights arrive in Seoul, while Gimhae International Airport serves Busan with flights from several Asian cities. Arriving in Busan directly can simplify a Busan-focused trip.
  • Train connections. The KTX high-speed train links Seoul and Busan, so it is possible to visit both cities. Consider whether you want to travel soon after treatment.
  • Pace of the trip. Some visitors prefer to recover in a calmer setting. Busan allows you to combine treatment with gentle sightseeing.
  • Getting around. In Busan, Seomyeon Station connects subway Lines 1 and 2, making a Seomyeon clinic easy to reach from Haeundae, Nampo and Busan Station.
  • Follow-up. If a treatment might need a check or a second session, choose a clinic in the city where you will spend the most time.

Budget: what actually affects the total

It is tempting to look for a simple answer about which city is cheaper, but prices vary widely between clinics in both. What drives your total spend is usually:

  • Which treatments you choose and how much. Shots, units, joules and cc all affect cost.
  • Single-use consumables. Tips and cartridges can be included or charged separately.
  • First-visit pricing. Introductory prices are common but often apply once per patient per item.
  • VAT. Check whether the 10% VAT is included.
  • Your travel costs. Extra train journeys, hotel nights and time away from sightseeing are part of the real budget.

We do not quote other clinics' prices. Instead, compare any two quotes using the same device, dose, VAT basis and conditions.

Sample budget using published Busan prices

To plan a realistic budget, it helps to start with published prices. These are first-visit prices at Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon, in KRW, VAT excluded (10% VAT added at payment), checked October 2026:

  • Aquapeel steps 1 and 2. 9,900 KRW.
  • Jaw Botox 50 units. 9,900 KRW.
  • Pico Light Black Toning. 29,000 KRW.
  • Water Glow 2cc. 39,000 KRW.
  • InMode FX full face. 45,000 KRW.
  • ONDA 20,000J. 89,000 KRW.
  • Titanium 30KJ. 290,000 KRW.
  • Ultherapy Prime 300 shots. 990,000 KRW.

Remember to add 10% VAT to any total. First-visit prices apply once per new patient per item. Treatments such as fillers, thread lifts, Juvelook, Sculptra and Thermage FLX are quoted after an in-person consultation. See the full price list and our overview of Korean skin treatments in Busan.

Planning your treatment schedule

Whichever city you choose, a little planning helps:

  1. Consult first, then decide. A doctor should confirm what is suitable before you commit to a plan.
  2. Do injectables early. Botox and skin boosters can take days to settle or show effect.
  3. Space out stronger treatments. Lasers and lifting treatments can cause temporary redness or swelling.
  4. Protect your skin from the sun. Especially if you plan beach days in Busan after laser treatment.
  5. Leave a buffer before flying. Give yourself time to rest and ask questions if anything concerns you.

Suitability and results vary. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition or take regular medication, consult a doctor before any treatment.

A practical way to decide

If your trip is centred on Seoul, a Gangnam clinic may be most convenient. If you are spending most of your time in Busan, or want treatment as part of a relaxed coastal stay, a physician-led clinic in Busan avoids extra travel. Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon offers consultations in English, Japanese and Korean, and payment is made at the clinic on the day of treatment once the plan is confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do treatments in both Seoul and Busan?

Yes, but tell each doctor what you have already had so they can plan safely and avoid overlapping treatments.

Is it safe to take the KTX after a treatment?

Most people travel normally after common non-surgical treatments, but ask the doctor based on what you have had.

How should I budget for VAT?

Our listed prices exclude VAT, so add 10% to the total you plan to spend.

How far ahead should I book?

Booking a few days ahead is helpful, especially for Saturdays. Message us with your dates.
