Oligio vs Thermage FLX: Which RF Treatment Should You Consider?

Two monopolar RF devices with a similar goal

Oligio and Thermage FLX are both monopolar radiofrequency (RF) devices used for skin tightening. Radiofrequency heats the deeper layers of the skin. That heat causes existing collagen fibres to contract and encourages the body to produce new collagen over time. The intended result is firmer, smoother-looking skin rather than a dramatic lift.

Thermage has been used internationally for many years, and FLX is its current generation. Oligio is a Korean-developed RF device that became popular in Korea as an alternative. Because they work on similar principles, visitors often ask which one they should choose. The honest answer is that the decision depends on your skin, your comfort with heat sensations, your budget, and what a doctor finds during an examination.

How Thermage FLX works

Thermage FLX delivers RF energy through a single-use treatment tip, with built-in cooling to protect the skin surface while the deeper layers are heated. The system is designed to measure the skin and adjust energy delivery for each pulse. Treatments are described by the number of shots, and the tip size and shot count are chosen according to the treatment area, such as the full face, eyes or body.

Thermage FLX is often discussed for:

  • Mild to moderate laxity. Loosening skin around the cheeks, jawline and neck.
  • Skin texture. A smoother, tighter feel to the skin surface.
  • Eye area. A dedicated eye tip is used for hooded or crepey skin around the eyes in suitable patients.

At Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon, Thermage FLX is quoted after an in-person consultation, as the shot count and tip depend on your treatment plan. You can read more on our Thermage FLX page.

How Oligio works

Oligio also uses monopolar RF with cooling, and is commonly described in Korea as offering a similar tightening approach, with different handpiece design and energy settings. Many patients and clinics in Korea consider it as an option for people who want RF tightening and are comparing alternatives to Thermage.

Oligio is not on our treatment list, so if you are specifically interested in it, please ask during consultation which RF options are available and how they compare for your skin. A doctor can explain whether a different device on our list may suit your goals.

Key differences to think about

Rather than asking which device is better in general, it helps to compare them on the factors that matter to you:

  • Track record. Thermage has a long international history, which some patients find reassuring. Oligio is newer and used mainly in Korea and nearby markets.
  • Comfort. Both create a strong heat sensation. Comfort varies with settings, the area treated and the individual. Ask how the clinic manages discomfort.
  • Cost structure. Price differences between RF devices often reflect the cost of single-use tips, device licensing and the number of shots. Compare quotes carefully, including shot count and whether a genuine tip is used.
  • Treatment plan. Some people prefer one more intensive session, while others prefer a lighter approach repeated more often. Your doctor can explain which strategy fits each device.

Other RF and lifting options to discuss

If you are interested in RF tightening, there are other approaches your doctor may raise during consultation, depending on your goals:

  • Titanium lifting. A combination-energy treatment listed at KRW 290,000 for 30KJ.
  • ONDA. A microwave-based device often used for contouring, listed at KRW 89,000 for 20,000J.
  • InMode FX full face. Listed at KRW 45,000.

All prices are first-visit prices in KRW, VAT excluded (10% VAT added at payment), checked October 2026. See the full price list for details.

Side effects and realistic expectations

Common, usually temporary reactions to RF tightening include redness, mild swelling and tenderness. Less commonly, heat-based treatments can cause blistering or burns, which is why settings and technique matter. Results tend to develop gradually over weeks to months and vary from person to person. Neither device can replace surgery for significant sagging, and no result is guaranteed. If you have a pacemaker, metal implants in the treatment area, or are pregnant, tell the doctor, as RF may not be suitable.

Frequently asked questions

Is Oligio the same as Thermage?

They use a similar principle, monopolar RF with cooling, but they are different devices with different designs and settings. A doctor can explain how they compare for your skin.

Which one lasts longer?

Longevity depends on your skin, age and lifestyle as much as on the device. Be cautious of anyone who promises a specific duration.

Can I get Oligio at Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon?

Oligio is not on our treatment list. Please ask during consultation which RF and lifting options are available for your goals.

How much does Thermage FLX cost?

It is quoted after an in-person consultation, because the tip and shot count depend on your plan.
