What Shurink Universe is

Shurink Universe is a Korean-made HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) device. Like other HIFU systems, it focuses ultrasound energy at set depths under the skin to create small points of heat. The skin responds by tightening and gradually rebuilding collagen. It is one of the most commonly used lifting devices in Korean clinics, partly because it suits people who want a lighter, more affordable lifting treatment that can be repeated.

The Universe version is the newer generation of the Shurink line. It offers different cartridges for different depths, and a mode designed to deliver energy in a smoother, more continuous way. In practice, this lets a doctor adjust the treatment to areas such as the jawline, cheeks, under the chin and around the mouth.

Who may consider Shurink Universe

Shurink Universe is often discussed for people with early to moderate signs of facial laxity. Common reasons visitors ask about it include:

  • A softening jawline. Mild loss of definition along the lower face.
  • Fullness under the chin. Some patients use HIFU to help with mild sagging in this area, sometimes alongside other treatments.
  • Maintenance after a stronger lift. Some people use it between sessions of more intensive treatments.
  • A first lifting treatment. Its price point makes it a common starting point for people new to lifting devices.

It is less likely to be enough on its own for heavy sagging or significant skin excess. In those cases a doctor may discuss other options, including stronger ultrasound devices, radiofrequency or, for some people, a surgical opinion. Suitability always depends on an in-person assessment.

  • Ultherapy Prime 300 shots. KRW 990,000.

All are first-visit prices, VAT excluded, checked October 2026. You can see the full list on our price list.

Why shot counts matter

HIFU is usually priced by the number of shots. A shot is one delivery of energy along a line. More shots allow more coverage or more passes over an area, but more is not automatically better. The doctor decides how shots are spread across your face based on your anatomy and goals. If you are comparing quotes from different clinics, compare the device, the shot count, and who performs the treatment rather than the headline price alone.

What happens during treatment

A typical Shurink Universe appointment follows these steps:

  1. Consultation. The doctor examines your face, discusses your goals and confirms whether HIFU is suitable.
  2. Cleansing and marking. Your skin is cleaned and treatment areas may be marked.
  3. Gel application. Ultrasound gel helps the energy pass into the skin.
  4. Treatment. The handpiece is moved across each area. You may feel warmth, prickling or a deep ache, especially over bony areas such as the jawline.
  5. Finishing. Gel is removed and soothing care is applied.

The treatment itself is relatively quick, which suits visitors with limited time in Busan. Many people feel comfortable going back to sightseeing or shopping afterwards.

Downtime, side effects and results

HIFU is non-invasive, so there are no wounds. Common, usually temporary reactions include redness, mild swelling, tenderness when touching the treated area, and occasionally small bruises. Less commonly, some people notice temporary numbness or tingling. If you notice anything that worries you, contact the clinic.

Some patients see a slight tightening soon after treatment, while collagen-related changes tend to develop over the following weeks. Results vary between people and are not guaranteed. Because Shurink Universe is a lighter treatment, it is often repeated at intervals the doctor recommends, rather than relied on as a one-time solution.

Shurink Universe compared with other HIFU

All HIFU devices share the same basic principle, but they differ in energy delivery, cartridges, imaging and cost. Ultherapy Prime, for example, includes real-time ultrasound imaging so the practitioner can see skin layers while treating, and it is priced very differently. Shurink Universe is commonly positioned as an accessible, repeatable option. Neither choice is right for everyone, and a doctor can explain which suits your skin. Frequently asked questions

Does Shurink Universe hurt?

Most people feel warmth and a deep prickling or aching sensation, particularly over the jawline. The sensation is usually brief and stops when the handpiece moves on.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people have a single session and repeat it later as maintenance. Your doctor will suggest a plan based on your skin and how you respond.

Can I combine it with other treatments on the same day?

Combinations such as HIFU with skin boosters or radiofrequency are common in Korea, but whether this is suitable for you is decided at consultation.

Can I fly after Shurink Universe?

There is no wound, so many visitors travel soon afterwards. Mention your travel plans during consultation so the doctor can give personal advice.
