What "Pico Fraxel" means

"Pico Fraxel" is a name used in Korea for fractional treatment delivered with a picosecond laser. A pico laser produces extremely short pulses. When it is fitted with a special fractional lens or handpiece, the energy is concentrated into many tiny focal points that create microscopic zones of injury just beneath the skin surface, sometimes called laser-induced optical breakdown. The skin responds by remodelling collagen and elastin over the following weeks.

Because the surface is largely left intact, pico fractional treatments are often described as having relatively short downtime compared with traditional ablative resurfacing. The trade-off is that each session tends to be gentler, so a series is usually needed. Pico Fraxel is not on the price list at Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon, so if you are specifically interested in it, you can ask during consultation which options are available for your skin.

What concerns it is used for

Pico fractional treatments are generally discussed for the following:

  • Rough or uneven texture. Fine bumpiness, a crepe-like surface and general loss of smoothness.
  • Shallow acne scars. Mild rolling scars and shallow boxcar scars may soften over a series of sessions.
  • Enlarged-looking pores. Remodelling around pores may make them appear less noticeable in some people.
  • Fine lines. Light crinkling around the eyes or cheeks.
  • Mixed tone and texture concerns. Because the device is a pico laser, it can sometimes be combined with toning for pigment in the same plan.

Deep ice pick scars, severe tethered rolling scars, and significant volume loss usually need additional or different methods, so pico fractional treatment on its own may not be enough.

Alternatives available at our clinic

If your goal is better texture or softer acne scars, these treatments on our price list are designed for similar concerns. Prices are first-visit, KRW, VAT excluded (10% VAT added at payment), checked October 2026:

  • U-Pulse Fraxel, KRW 25,000. A fractional laser treatment for texture and scarring.
  • Potenza full face, KRW 99,000 (tip charged separately). RF microneedling that delivers heat below the surface, used for scars, pores and oiliness. See our Potenza page.
  • Pico Light Black Toning, KRW 29,000. Low-energy pico toning for uneven tone and post-acne marks.
  • Rejuran 2cc, KRW 139,000. A skin booster sometimes added to support skin quality during a scar or texture plan.

The doctor will explain which combination, if any, suits your skin. See the full price list for other options.

Downtime and side effects

After pico fractional treatment, people typically report redness and a warm, slightly swollen feeling for a day or two, sometimes with tiny pinpoint marks or a fine grid pattern. Other fractional and RF treatments have their own patterns of recovery, usually a few days of redness. Across all of these, possible side effects include:

  • Temporary redness and swelling. The most common effect.
  • Dryness and light flaking. Usually manageable with a bland moisturiser.
  • Temporary darkening. More likely in skin that tends to pigment after inflammation, and made worse by sun.
  • Breakouts. Occasionally triggered by heavy creams or by the treatment itself.

Rarer complications such as infection or scarring are possible with any resurfacing treatment. Tell the doctor if you have a history of cold sores, keloids, recent isotretinoin use or are pregnant.

Building a realistic texture and scar plan

Texture and scar treatments build up slowly. Collagen remodelling continues for months after each session, so results are judged over a course rather than after a single visit. A typical approach is to treat active acne first, then start remodelling treatments in a series, with sun protection throughout. If you are visiting Busan for a short time, a single session is still possible, but expectations should be modest, and the doctor can advise what to continue at home or with a clinic near you. Results vary and are not guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer Pico Fraxel?

It is not on our price list. Please ask during consultation which options are available. The doctor can explain alternatives such as U-Pulse Fraxel or Potenza for texture and scars.

Is pico fractional treatment better than other fractional lasers?

Not necessarily. It may suit people who want shorter downtime, while other methods may reach deeper. The right choice depends on scar type, skin type and goals.

How long until I see smoother skin?

Some people notice a glow within days as the skin recovers, but texture changes from collagen take weeks to months to show.

Can I treat texture and pigmentation together?

Often, yes. Plans frequently combine a texture treatment with toning, but the doctor will space them so the skin is not over-treated.
