Pore Reduction Treatments in Busan: What Can Dermatology Procedures Achieve?

Why pores look enlarged

Pores are the openings of hair follicles and oil glands, and everyone has them. They look larger for different reasons, and the reason matters because it changes which treatment can help:

  • Oil production. Active oil glands, common on the nose, forehead and inner cheeks, can stretch pores and make them more visible.
  • Clogging. Blackheads and sebum plugs make pores look darker and wider.
  • Loss of firmness. With age and sun damage, the skin around pores loses support, so pores can look elongated or teardrop-shaped.
  • Acne history. Past inflammation can leave pores looking wider and surrounded by uneven texture.
  • Genetics. Some people simply have more visible pores.

What dermatology procedures can realistically achieve

It helps to start with honest expectations. Pores cannot be removed, and no treatment closes them permanently. What procedures can often do is make pores look less noticeable by reducing oil and clogging, tightening the surrounding skin, and smoothing texture so light reflects more evenly. Results vary, and maintenance is usually needed because oil production and ageing continue.

It also helps to know that pores look different depending on the light, the camera and the angle. Magnifying mirrors and phone cameras close up can exaggerate them. During a consultation, the doctor looks at your skin in normal conditions and explains which changes are likely to be noticeable in everyday life, so that the plan is aimed at a realistic goal rather than a filtered image.

The full list is on our price list, and more background is on our enlarged pore treatment page.

Matching the treatment to the cause

The doctor will look at your skin and choose treatments according to what is driving the pore appearance:

  • Mainly oily and clogged. Cleansing treatments and approaches that target oil activity are usually the starting point, alongside a suitable home routine.
  • Mainly loss of firmness. Treatments that stimulate collagen around the pore, such as RF microneedling or fractional laser, may be prioritised.
  • Pores plus acne scars. Combining a remodelling treatment with acne control is common.
  • Dehydrated, dull skin. Hydrating skin boosters may help the surface look smoother.

Other devices you may have read about, such as Agnes RF or Genesis laser, work differently. You can ask during consultation which options are available.

Downtime, side effects and home care

Cleansing treatments and boosters generally have minimal downtime, though injected boosters can leave small bumps or bruises for a few days. RF microneedling and fractional laser usually cause redness for a few days, sometimes with tiny marks or roughness. Less common side effects include temporary darkening and breakouts. To support results at home:

  • Cleanse gently. Over-scrubbing can irritate skin and make pores look worse.
  • Use non-comedogenic products. Lightweight moisturisers and sunscreen suitable for oily skin.
  • Consider retinoids or exfoliating acids. These can help, but ask the doctor when to restart them around procedures.
  • Wear sunscreen daily. Sun damage weakens the support around pores over time.

Frequently asked questions

Can pores be permanently shrunk?

No treatment changes pores permanently. Procedures can make them appear smaller for a period, and maintenance helps keep that effect.

How many sessions will I need?

Cleansing treatments can be repeated regularly, while remodelling treatments like Potenza or fractional laser are usually done as a series. The doctor will suggest a plan at consultation.

Can I have pore treatment while travelling?

Yes. Cleansing and booster treatments fit easily into a trip. For RF microneedling or fractional laser, allow a few days of redness.

Are pore strips or squeezing helpful?

They can remove some surface debris temporarily but may irritate the skin. Squeezing in particular can cause inflammation and marks.
