Two popular areas, two different trip styles

When visitors search for skin clinics in Busan, two neighbourhoods come up again and again: Seomyeon and Haeundae. Both have many dermatology and aesthetic clinics, and both are well connected. The right choice usually depends less on the clinics themselves and more on how your trip is structured: where you are staying, how you are moving around the city, and what else you want to do on the day of your appointment.

It also helps to remember that Busan's subway makes both areas reachable from most of the city, so you are rarely locked into one choice by geography alone.

This guide compares the two areas from a traveller's point of view, so you can decide which location fits your plans.

Seomyeon: the central hub

Seomyeon is Busan's main downtown district, roughly in the centre of the city. It is known for shopping streets, an underground arcade, food alleys, cafés and nightlife.

  • Transport. Seomyeon Station is where Metro Lines 1 and 2 meet, so you can reach it directly from Busan Station, Nampo, Haeundae, Gwangalli and Sasang (for the airport light rail).
  • Convenient for multi-area trips. If you are moving between several neighbourhoods, a central clinic is easy to fit in.
  • Shopping and food nearby. You can combine an appointment with shopping or a meal without extra travel.
  • Weekday evenings. Many visitors use Seomyeon as an evening base after sightseeing elsewhere.

Haeundae: the beach district

Haeundae is Busan's best-known beach area, with resort hotels, the beachfront promenade and nearby attractions such as Dongbaekseom and the Blueline Park coastal rail.

  • Close to beach hotels. If you are staying on the waterfront and plan to stay local, a nearby clinic saves travel.
  • Resort-style trip. Visitors on a beach holiday may prefer to keep everything within walking distance.
  • Sun exposure. Remember that beach days and certain treatments do not always mix. After laser or toning, strong sun is best avoided, wherever your clinic is.
  • Travel from elsewhere. Haeundae is on the eastern side of the city, so it can be a longer journey if you are staying near Busan Station or Nampo.

Questions to help you decide

  • Where is your hotel? If it is near Busan Station, Nampo or Seomyeon, a Seomyeon clinic is usually a direct ride. If you are in Haeundae, both are reachable on Line 2.
  • How many areas will you visit? A central location is often easier for itineraries that cover several neighbourhoods.
  • When can you attend? Check each clinic's hours against your schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.
  • What matters more than location? Doctor-led consultation, language support, clear prices and the treatments available should outweigh a few subway stops.

In other words, choose the clinic first on quality and fit, then check that the location works. Our guide to choosing a dermatology clinic in Busan covers this in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Is Seomyeon far from Haeundae?

They are connected directly by Metro Line 2, so no transfer is needed. Check a map app for the time from your nearest station.

Are clinic prices different between the two areas?

Prices depend on each clinic, the device or product and the quantity. Compare the same treatment and quantity, and check whether VAT is included.

Can I have treatment and go to the beach the same day?

It depends on the treatment. After laser, toning or microneedling, strong sun and swimming are commonly avoided for a short time. Ask the doctor.

Which area is better for evening appointments?

That depends on each clinic's hours. Daybeau Clinic Seomyeon is open until 20:00 on weekdays.
